In fact, at the turn of the century, we saw the first publication with “Molecular Portraits” in its title in an issue of the high ranking journal of Nature. Generally, such publications refer to “Molecular Portraits” when they repot findings that uncover a complexity in the biology of the disease of their scientific interest.
Notably, reference to complexity is made to the molecular biology of the disease. Over 250 publications unpack this molecular complexity in Oncology (aka – the study of Cancer).
Unpacking and developing signatures of this complexity as molecular biomarker signatures is at the forefront of Precision Medicine and Personalized Health. It, therefore, plays an important role in discovery and development of drug, treatment response and staging of diseases.
